Treatment of Urinary Stones and Endourology

Modern operations for treating urinary stones, tumors, stenoses, and more, is available at the Center. The treatment of urinary stones underwent a revolution in the last two decades. Apart from the possibility of crushing urinary stones, a variety of minimally-invasive procedures is also available, which currently replace the older variety of open surgical procedures. Operations are carried out using unique and subtle optic equipment, and advanced laser technology . These procedures do not even require any incisions, and can be used to treat other urinary problems, such as stenoses and small tumors.

Activities offered by the service

Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

The Unit endeavors to diagnose prostate cancer, also by way of early discovery tests and include state-of-the-art equipment for obtaining diagnostic prostate biopsies.

Diagnosis and treatment of renal cancer

Operations are carried out using a modern, minimally-invasive (laparoscopic) method. In addition, kidney-preserving operations are carried out, during which, using suitable techniques, it is possible to remove only the part of the kidney infected with a tumor. In some cases, small tumors inside rear urinary systems endoscopic operations are carried out, and laser-operated surgery is performed to remove tumors.

Diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer

Diagnostic tests are performed for the early discovery of bladder cancer, surgery is carried out using an endoscopic approach, and is performed using modern equipment and the safest technology.

Operations for Treating Benign Prostate Hyperplasia

We are living in an age of accelerated development in a variety of alternative treatment options designed to provide a solution to bladder obstructions caused by benign prostate tumors.Today, endoscopic operations are carried out for removing enlarged prostates using state-of-the-art instruments, which operate on the principle of bipolar electrical energy, which is very safe, especially for patients who are complex in terms of background diseases.

Laparoscopy

The abundant technologies and experience at the disposal of the hospital's Urology Department enable it to conduct laparoscopic operations, which are very conventional today in various fields of modern surgery. This surgical option, which evolved greatly during the last decade, is regularly available today as an alternative to the traditional open-surgery treatment for patients requiring renal surgery, including cases necessitating partial renal resection, and the removal only of the portion of the kidney infected with the tumor, be it malignant or benign, while maximally preserving the remaining renal tissue. Laparoscopic operations are also conventionally used today for treating adrenal gland diseases, retroperitoneal tumors,

Pediatric surgery for locating intra-abdominal cryptorchidism, repairing congenital defects in the upper urinary system (such as stenoses in the node between the renal pelvis and the ureter) and urinary bladder operations. Using this unique treatment method, as opposed to open surgeries requiring large incisions, the operation is carried out via small openings in the abdominal wall, using cameras and advanced and unique equipment which combines various types of energy. Therefore, laparoscopic surgery involves less pain, shorter hospitalization periods, and quicker recovery when compared with open surgery. In addition, better cosmetic-aesthetic, clinical and oncological results are achieved. Today, many urological operations can be performed laparoscopically, with its many added benefits.
